Dr. Vu Minh Khuong is an Associate Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. His research and teaching interests concentrate on strategy and policy concerning economic development and digital transformation.
Professor Vu’s research articles have appeared on prestigious international journals and publication venues, including, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Journal of Travel Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Energy Policy, Information Economics and Policy, Telematics and Informatics, Telecommunication Policy, Utility Policy, German Economics Review, Journal of Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, China Economics Review, Journal of Policy Modeling, Journal of Contemporary Economic Policy, and Brookings Foreign Policy Paper.
Professor Vu has published three books and frequently writes press articles for newspapers and other media, sharing his views on a range of issues on economic development and transformation in the digital age.
Dr. Vu is active in providing extensive consulting and advisory services to international organizations, technology companies, and government agencies in many countries. In particular, he has worked with UNIDO, UNDP, IMF, World Bank, IFC, ILO, APO, USAID, KPMG, Microsoft, and Qualcomm.
Before transitioning into academia, Professor Vu had held various government positions in Vietnam, including Deputy Chief of the Haiphong City Government Office, and Vice-Chairman. He was elected CEO by 400 workers of the Song Cam Chemical Enterprise, a state-owned company in Haiphong City in 1998 when the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. With the success of turning around the company, he received a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue his MBA at Harvard Business School in 1993-1995.
Professor Vu together with Boyd Fuller received the 2011 Best Article Award of the Public and NonProfit Division of the Academy of Management (USA). He was the winner of the LKY School Research Excellence Award in 2012 and the LKY School Annual Teaching Excellence Award in 2009 and 2011.
Professor Vu received a BA in Mathematics from Hanoi University (with highest honors) and an MBA and PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University.
